The event, held in Sydney, Australia, is the pinnacle of international Powerchair Football competitions and one of the fastest growing sports among people with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph core-block core-paragraph\">Through sponsorship and on-and-off the field engagement, PTC:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"core-block core-list core-list--ul\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Supported inclusion &amp; wellbeing of people with rare diseases and disabilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Facilitated participation for disabled athletes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supported organizers to stage the World Cup<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Raised awareness of disability sports and encouraged more participants and supporters to the sport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div  class=\"quote-block  color-theme--white\">\n\n\t\n\t<div class=\"quote-block__content\">\n\t\t<blockquote class=\"quote-block__text color-theme-border--white\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"quote-block__heading heading--4\">\n\t\t\t\tWith this initiative, PTC has also made it possible for athletes with rare diseases and disabilities to realize their dream of representing their country, which makes us very proud.\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<cite class=\"quote-block__author quote-block__author--name\">\n\t\t\t\tNermina Weber\t\t\t<\/cite>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<cite class=\"quote-block__author quote-block__author--title\">\n\t\t\t\tDirector, Corporate Communications and member of the European Community Team at PTC\t\t\t<\/cite>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized is-style-lightbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/panel.ptcbio.com\/es\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2024\/11\/EDA1.png\" alt=\"Nermina Weber and Sophia Andeh accept European Diversity Award\" class=\"wp-image-16494\" style=\"width:796px;height:auto\" \/><button class=\"modal-toggle\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"modal\" data-bs-target=\"#mg-image-modal\" aria-label=\"View image in lightbox\"><\/button><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph core-block core-paragraph\">PTC\u2019s initiative stood out amongst many leading organizations and diversity and inclusion champions across industry sectors and geographies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph core-block core-paragraph\">According to the European Diversity Awards Advisory Panel, \u201cThis is a well-structured initiative that effectively brings football to the disabled community, backed by tangible media and online evidence of impact. The support and commitment shown by the team at PTC Therapeutics are commendable, especially in working with the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de Powerchair Football Association (FIPFA) to elevate adaptive sports for people with disabilities.
